Kendra,
I was diagnosed in May 2007 with Colortectal cancer and have been through the Port being installed, Pre-operative Chemotherapy, Operation, Post-operative Chemotherapy and Radiation Treatments, which I ended in April.
I went back to see the Chemotherapist in May figuring that I was going to get good news, only to find out that I had developed lesions on my lungs, so needles to say I was taken back a few steps and dump founded by this.
Since May, I have had 4 weeks of treatments, another PET SCan and now I'm back on another 8 treatments since the Nodals in my lungs have not grown and there are no new lesions.
I too had to endure the Chemo Pump and making it a part of my daily life while doing the Pre and Post-operative treatments. The Pre-operative treastments wasn't too bad with me having to endure the pump for 48 hours then getting taken off for a week, then putting back on. When I went through the Post-operative treatment I wore it for a week, then went back in and had it refilled and would do this from January until April of this year. I'm glad that my treatments this time around are only once a week and I only have to be in the clinic for about 3 hours.
I would ike to add you to my blog as a new friend, if this is all right and we can share stories of treatment and support one another. I will be going to Wisconsin next week with my Fiance's family.
I know what is like to be the youngster on block, so to speak when it comes to Chemo and Radiation Treatments. I still get stares from the older people and they tend to question me on my cancer and how far I've come with the treatments and my prognosis for beating it. I know most are looking at the treatments as a necessary evil, but I'm looking at from the Point of View that I'll be a better person for this.
Here is the link for my blog if you want to stop by and visit.
